I began my training in General Surgery at the Naval Hospital of Athens and completed it at the Konstantopouleio General Hospital of Nea Ionia “Agia Olga”. At the time, this clinic —under the direction of Dervenis— was considered a national referral center in Greece for liver and pancreatic diseases.
After obtaining my specialty title, I further specialized in hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery, initially at the Surgical Clinic of Agia Olga, where I participated in a large number of procedures within this field. I was subsequently accepted to the University Surgical Clinic in Verona, under Professor Claudio Bassi, one of the leading pancreatic surgery centers in Europe.
Alongside my subspecialty training in Italy, I completed a postgraduate degree at the University of Verona, titled Master Universitario in Chirurgia Epato-Pancreatico-Biliare, Livello II. During this two-year period, I gained substantial experience in the perioperative management of this complex group of surgical conditions.
Following my return from abroad, and while serving as a surgical registrar at the Naval Hospital of Athens, I completed my doctoral thesis at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, titled: Short-term and long-term outcomes after colorectal surgery: comparison between complete mesocolic excision (CME) and conventional resection.
Since 2019, I have served initially as a consultant and subsequently as Director of the Surgical Clinic at the Naval Hospital of Crete, while also maintaining a private practice in Chania. In addition to performing a broad range of general surgical procedures, I continue to focus on hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery, treating patients from across the island of Crete and collaborating with private clinics in both Chania and Heraklion.
I have participated in numerous national and international conferences as an invited speaker, presenting studies, outcomes, and clinical experience from the institutions where I trained and served, both as a resident and as a consultant. I maintain strong clinical, research, and educational engagement, currently contributing as an instructor in training programs for surgical residents and specialists, while also publishing a significant number of scientific papers and studies.
