In the private office, a range of minor procedures is performed on both a scheduled and emergency basis. After a thorough examination and depending on whether imaging studies, such as ultrasound, are required—cases in which the patient must first be referred to a radiologist—planned excisions of moles, cysts, or lipomas may be performed, as well as cauterization of papillomas and warts.
Additionally, on an emergency basis, incision and drainage of abscesses, decompression of thrombosed hemorrhoids, and wound suturing are performed.
